After a successful debut season in 2008 which attracted 60 competitors in nine different makes of car, GT Cup organisers have responded to interest by adding a first 100km race distance at Knockhill, itself a debutant in the series.
And although 2009's gloomy economic forecast continues to cast a shadow over many National and Club championships, the GT Cup appears in good shape. This year will see GT3 machinery competing for the first time whilst space has been retained on the grid for National B licence holders.
