SPEED: Monza race included on 2010 calendar



The SPEED series has announced its 2010 calendar, which will include a visit to mainland Europe for a three-hour endurance race at Monza.

The Le Mans-style racing series, formerly known as VdeV UK, will also support Superleague Formula’s and the Le Mans Series’ visits to Silverstone in April and September and visit Brands Hatch, Snetterton and Oulton Park in a six-round calendar.

“We’ve worked hard to give competitors a solid calendar with interesting circuits,” said series organiser Oli McCrudden.

“We feel this calendar offers best value for competitors and gives a great selection of testing, fast circuits to appeal to everyone.”

Five of the six rounds will see the series, which caters for CN and CN2 category prototypes such as the Ligier JS49, Norma M20F and Juno SSE-CN, will be single, 3 hour races, the exception being the Superleague Formula-supporting season opener which will comprise of two, one-hour 30 minute events.

2-3 Apr – Silverstone GP (supporting Superleague Formula)
23 May – Brands Hatch GP
26 Jun – Snetterton
24 Jul – Oulton Park
10-11 Sep – Silverstone GP (supporting Le Mans Series)
23-24 Oct – Monza

Springbox Concept boss Philipe Alliot could get behind the wheel of one of his team's cars at this weekend's SPEED EuroSeries event at Silverstone.

French racer Pierre Nicolet will contest the Silverstone leg of the Speed Euroseries championship after inking a deal with Team Avelon Formula.
