SPEED series outfit Team WFR clinched their second win in three rounds at the 3-hour endurance race at Brands Hatch at the weekend.
The Yorkshire-based squad backed up its impressive display at Silverstone in the opening round, which saw it secure a win and a second place, with a two-lap triumph over closest rivals Jota Sport.
Both the leading squads had driver changes at Brands. Former single-seater racer Joey Foster was drafted into the Team WFR Ligier alongside Jody Firth to replace Warren Hughes, who was on FIA GT1 duty, while the similar Jota Sport car saw Simon Dolan joined by former Formula Renault BARC champion Ollie Hancock, who stood in for his brother Sam, who was recently named an Aston Martin Racing Factory Driver for the Le Mans 24 Hours.
The Team WFR car took pole position by just over half a second and was never headed during the 117 lap race.
Dolan and Hancock came home in second place to keep Jota Sport’s title hopes alive, while Barry Gates and Rob Garofall made it a clean sweep of the podium for Ligier with third in the RLR Motorsport-run car.
Class C for bike-engined cars was won by the WSC Motorsport Radical ProSport shared by Graham Hill and Rod Stead, while Class B, for older Honda EP3-engined machines, was clinched by the Juno of Zubin Randeria and James Fillingham.
The only Class D car to enter the race was the Moore Racing Mosler of Phil Quaife, Paul O’Neil and Dave Shelton, which finished eighth overall.
