SPEED: Series set for high-profile events in 2010

The SPEED series is set to have several more high-profile events in 2010, supporting Superleague Formula and the Le Mans Series.

The sports prototype racing series which features Le Mans-style long distance events and is targeted at drivers hoping graduate to endurance racing, is currently working on finalising its calendar for next year. However it has been invited to support the LMS round at Silverstone in September and is considering a tie-up with Superleague Formula for its visit to the same circuit in April.

“The opportunity is there to join the Superleague Formula spectacular at Silverstone in early April,” read a statement on SPEED’s website.

“The show attracts strong crowds and we are likely to run two 90 minute, 2-driver races over the weekend on the Grand Prix circuit.

“Equally exciting is the prospect of joining the Le Mans Series event – also at Silverstone – in September. We have been invited to run a 3-hour race on the Saturday of this international meeting.

“Both of these opportunities would see the SPEED profile rising considerably and that is one of our core objectives in the season planning.”
