SPEED: Woodcock brothers join series

Experienced racers Gary and Michael Woodcock will join the SPEED series this season.

The Dutch Supercar Challenge / Mosler Challenge regulars have purchased a Ligier JS49 and plan to contest the final round of prototype series at Silverstone on 10 October before a full season campaign in 2010.

The brothers are regulars on the racing scene. Gary started his career racing a Lotus Cortina in Classic Saloon Cars but quickly progressed to Formula Ford where he raced against the like of David Coulthard and Kelvin Burt. He made it to British F3 level in single seaters before concentrating on tin-tops, winning the Formula Saloon Championship in 2002. He has since raced regular in the Dutch Supercar Challenge.

Brother Michael has been racing since he was 17 and shares the Mosler MT900 with Gary in the Dutch Supercar Challenge. He won the Super Touring Challenge in 2004 driving a Nissan Primera and has also raced in EuroBoss with an F1 Arrows Hart.

Their arrival in the SPEED series is set to be one of several new entries at Silverstone as championship organisers actively seek to increase grid numbers for Le Mans-style racing series.
