Ex-F1 racer Alliot could contest SPEED event at Silverstone

Springbox Concept boss Philipe Alliot could get behind the wheel of one of his team's cars at this weekend's SPEED EuroSeries event at Silverstone.

The former F1 driver, whose team campaign a Liguer JS51, has already brought in GT1 star Frederic Makowiecki for the British weekend, but with the Frenchman also set to contest the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup race aboard a Ferrari Alliot says he may step in if his driver needs some support.

"I will drive of Fred wants some help," said Alliot. "I understand that he has a lot of driving to do over the weekend."

"I have invited Fred to do the race because we want to win," Alliot continied. "Ligier is building a new car for next year and we want a good result in the EuroSeries."

Makowiecki added that he got the call for Silverstone because of his experience in the Ligier car.

"The team want a good result, so they have brought me in because I know the car well," said the Frenchman. "I don't think I will have a problem jumping from one car to another because it is something I am used to."

Springbox Concept have endured a disfficult season thus far, scoring just ten points and sitting tenth in the 12 team championship.
