LMS: Quaife and Ehret join CRS Le Mans Series line-up

Phil Quaife and Pierre Ehret will share CRS Racing’s second Ferrari F430 in the 2010 Le Mans Series.

After announcing its switch to the LMS from the FIA GT Championship, the British team had already announced the driver line-up in one of its cars as Andrew Kirkaldy and Tim Mullen and they will sign a third driver to join Brit Quaife and German Ehret in the second 430.

24-year-old Quaife will be making his LMS debut having raced for CRS in the FIA GT3 European Championship last season. He has previous experience in the GT2 Ferrari having also driven for the team in last year’s Spa 24 Hours.

“I’m absolutely delighted,” said Quaife. “The target for last season was to do GT2 but it just wasn’t possible due to the required budget. But racing in GT3 with CRS Racing, I found them to be a very professional team and we developed a great partnership. It’s fantastic to be able to stay with them this year and to be given the opportunity to move up to the GT2 class on a permanent basis. My plan is to do the best possible job for the team.”

Ehret continues his long association with the LMS having previously driven in the GT2 class with FBR and Farnbacher Racing. He will dovetail his LMS campaign with his prototype racing programme with Autocon in the American Le Mans Series.

“We’re really pleased to be able to enter a two-car team into the full Le Mans Series,” said CRS Team Director, Kirkaldy. “I’m very happy with the line-up. Pierre is one of the quickest non-professional drivers out there. Phil did a fantastic job for us last year and really came on strong when things got tough. We have another driver to announce soon for that car. I think it will be a real advantage to have a three-driver line-up when it comes to the longer races. It’ll certainly keep Tim and I on our toes.”
