Le Mans: Barazi-Epsilon in for IPB Spartak

Barazi-Epsilon is set to join the 55-car grid for the Le Mans 24 Hours after the withdrawal of IPB Spartak Racing.

IPB, which was handed an invitation to enter one of its GT1 Lamborghini Murcielagos, has announced that it won’t be present at practice on 10 June and therefore its place on the grid has been handed to the team top of the reserve entry list.

That team is Le Mans and Le Mans Series regulars Barazi-Epsilon, who return to the field with their LMP2 Zytek 07S. The French squad were a surprise omission from the original entry having finished 29th overall and fifth in class last year and second in class in 2007.

The news sees the GT1 entry drop to just six cars, with the LMP2 category growing to 12.

Four teams remain on the reserve list, with Welter Racing currently top with their eponymous WR-Zytek LMP2 chassis. Others still hoping for a chance are Team Felbermayr Proton (GT2 Porsche 911), Snoras Spyker Squadron (GT2 Spyker C8 Laviolette) and Larbre Competition (GT1 Saleen S7R). However the deadline for replacement entries expires on Friday 22 May.
