#7 Peugoet triumphs in 6 Hours of Silverstone

The #7 Peugeot of Sebastien Bourdais and Simon Pagenaud took victory in Sunday's Six Hours of Silverstone, defeating fierce rivals Audi in a typically close encounter.

The the #2 Audi of Kristensen/McNish held an early lead, ahead of the #7 and #8 Peugeots, with the #1 of Bernhard/Fassler completing a tight top four.

However the #8 Peugeot of Montagny/Sarrazin would fall victim to lapped traffic, ending up in the barriers and subsequently spending a long period in the pits.

McNish would also see his car's race ruined by traffic, the Scot hitting a Ferrari and damaging his steering in the process. As was the case for the Peugeot, the time lost to repairs would rule the car out of the fight for victory.

That left one of each marque's cars out front, both seemingly capable of taking the win. Eventually the race was decided in the pits as the Audi team was forced to endure a minute long stop to fix minor damage to the Bernhard/Fassler car. This gave Peugeot's French duo enough time to stretch their legs at the head of the field. Though the Audi remained on the pace - and indeed the lead lap - their hopes of the win were over.

The podium was completed by top petrol runner OAK Racing, whose new line-up of Alexandre Premat and Olivier Pla scored an impressive maiden LMP1 podium for the team. LMP2 was won by the Ojjeh/Kimber-Smith/Lombard Zytek-Nissan.

The Fisichella/Bruni AF Corse Ferrari took the honours in GTE-Pro whilst Ramond Narac and Nicolas Armindo scored the GTE-Am win aboard their IMSA Porsche.
