LMS: De Crem joins Boutsen Energy Racing in FLM

Belgian teenager Nicolas de Crem will make his international racing debut in the Formula Le Mans series this season.

The 19-year-old will race one of the Oreca-built prototypes for Boutsen Energy Racing in FLM, which will run as a class within the Le Mans Series for the first time in 2010.

De Crem makes the switch to prototype racing having finished fourth in the S1 class of the Belgian Touring Car Series last year driving an Audi A4. He has also raced in Belgian Formula Renault 1.6.

His co-driver has been revealed as Austrian racer, Dominik Kraihamer, who won twice for Boutsen Energy Racing in the Endurance Winter Series this year having finished 13th in the main FLM series in 2009. He has also raced in the FIA GT3 European Championship.

“I’m not following the customary path of many young single-seater drivers, by opting for endurance racing and the Le Mans Series,” said de Crem. “My ambition is to grow on through, from Formula Le Mans to LMP2 and on up to LMP1, but this season I’m going to fully concentrate on the Formula Le Mans.

“Together with my Austrian team mate I’m out to win the title, that’s for sure.”
