LMS: Atlas eFX Team FS confirm Silverstone withdrawal

The Le Mans Series’ GT1 category will see just one car racing at this weekend’s Silverstone 1000kms after the Atlas eFX Team FS confirmed the withdrawal of its Saleen S7R.

The Czech-based outfit’s car was badly damaged in the Hungaroring 1000kms last month and with repair work not due to be ready in time for this weekend, the team had hoped to enter its spare chassis.

Work had been done to adapt the T car to meet the current GT1 homologation criteria, but the team were unable to change the engine electrics in time.

Subject to a survey of all participating LMS teams, rule makers the ACO had given its approval for the Saleen to race, but one objection was received, meaning the squad’s hopes of competing were ended.

“We are very disappointed not to be at Silverstone, especially as the championship in our class has already been decided,” said a team spokesman.

The Atlas eFX Saleen was due to be shared by Asian and Australian F3 champion James Winslow, former Minardi F1 driver Zsolt Baumgartner and Dutch single-seater racer Carlo van Dam.
