LM: Peugeot drop Audi appeal

Peugeot Sport has dropped the appeal it launched against Audi’s R15 LMP1 prototype at the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Despite winning the iconic race last month to end ten years of Audi dominance, Peugeot originally claimed that they would continue to pursue their appeal against the legality of the R15’s aerodynamics.

However, a Peugeot statement released today said:

‘The A.C.O. has announced its intention to develop its communication with all the manufacturers involved in the Le Mans Series, the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Asian Le Mans Series.

‘The communication will ensure transparency between all the discipline’s players, which is key to guaranteeing the spirit of endurance racing.

‘As a consequence, Peugeot Sport has decided to withdraw its appeal with immediate effect.’

The news means that the results of the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours are final, with the #1 Audi of Allan McNish, Dindo Capello and Tom Kristensen classified as third.
