LMS: Fisichella and Alesi in AF Corse Ferrari

Giancarlo Fisichella and Jean Alesi will join Toni Vilander in an AF Corse Ferrari 430 in this season’s Le Mans Series.

Fisichella, Ferrari’s reserve and test driver, has 229 GP starts to his name but will be making his debut in the LMS. The 37-year-old has very little sportscar experience having raced in single-seaters since graduating from karting, although he has driven in the DTM.

The Italian will join Ferrari legend Jean Alesi in the team’s GT2-spec car after the Frenchman impressed during a test last winter. Alesi, a veteran of 201 GP starts, last raced in the Middle East-based Speedcar Series.

The experienced duo will share the Ferrari with GT-racing regular Vilander. The Finnish driver has enjoyed success driving the GT2 Ferrari 430 in the recent past, twice winning the FIA GT Championship and also scoring a double in the domestic Italian GT series.

The trio will drive one of three cars to be entered by AF Corse this season.
