Bathurst 12H: Movie star Bana to race Mitsubishi Evo X

Actor Eric Bana will race a Mitsubishi Evo X in next month’s Bathurst 12 Hours at the fabled Mount Panorama.

The star of films such as Chopper, Black Hawk Down, Hulk, Troy and Munich, launched his movie ‘Love the Beast’ , which highlighted his love of cars, at the event last year and has competed in several races in the Porsche GT3 Challenge and Australian GT Championship.

For the second successive season Bana will team up with Tim Leahey and Peter Hill in the Mitsubishi, which last year ran sixth in class and tenth overall on its maiden appearance at Bathurst.

“At the end of the day we are better prepared than we were this time last year,” said Leahey. “Pete and Eric are a lot more advanced than they were last year and we are definitely in with a chance to win.

“Racing is relaxing for me now and doing it with Pete and Eric is great as we are close mates and it also gives us a chance to hang out.”

A Mitsubishi has won the event for the past two years thanks to Alan Heaphy’s Team Ralliart squad.
