ALMS: Level 5 confirms full-season LMPC entry

After registering an entry for next weekend’s Sebring test, Level 5 Motorsports has confirmed it will also race in the American Le Mans Series this season.

The team, which fields Riley-BMW prototypes in Grand Am and finished on the podium at last month’s Daytona 24 Hours, will enter an Oreca-built FLM09, to be shared by team boss Scott Tucker and Le Mans 24 Hours winner Christophe Bouchut, in the new LMPC class.

Level 5 will contest the entire nine-round series, starting with the season-opening 12 Hours of Sebring in March.

“We are excited to be racing at Sebring this year in the new Le Mans Prototype Challenge class,” said team manager David Stone. “The new LMPC class has certainly been intriguing since it was announced last year. The number of cars continues to increase each week, which should make for some great competition.”

Tucker has already experienced the 430bhp FLM09 car having posted two second place finishes in the Endurance Winter Series at Paul Ricard earlier in the year.

“The car is an impressive proven racing package,” Tucker said. “Carbon brakes, paddle shift Xtrac gearboxes … all the boxes are checked. Everyone on the team has been pleasantly surprised at the growing field of car and the job the American Le Mans Series’ management has done. We are looking forward to the strong competition at Sebring and throughout the year.”
