Flying Lizard confirm 2012 ALMS assault

The Flying Lizard Motorsport squad will return to the American Le Mans Series next season with a pair of GT class Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs.

Porsche factory drivers Jorg Bergmeister and Patrick Long return aboard the #45 machine for what will be their fourth consecutive year as team-mates. Seth Neiman pilots the #44 car, joined again by Porsche factory driver Marco Holzer. The German will be contesting his second season with the team.

Three of the team’s drivers are past ALMS champions, with Bergmeister and Long having triumphed together in 2009 and 2010, whilst Holzer paired with his fellow German to secure the crown in 2008. In total Bergmeister is a five-time champion having secured the 2005 and ’06 titles prior to joining Flying lizard.

"I'm very enthusiastic about this year,” commented Long. “You learn a lot about yourself when the results don't come and in 2011 we certainly had to pull together as a team to get through a tough season.

“The changes to the RSR and the momentum coming off of the end of 2011 (with a win at Laguna Seca and second place at Petit Le Mans) are strong starting points for 2012. I'm as excited heading into this racing year as I've ever been."

Flying Lizard took third in this season’s teams’ standings whilst Bergmeister and Long ended the campaign as the fourth best driver pairing.
