ALMS: Baltimore confirmed on 2011 calendar

The American Le Mans Series has confirmed that it will race on the streets of Baltimore next season.

The sports car series will join the Izod Indycar Series at the Baltimore Grand Prix on 3 September at the two-mile temporary circuit on the streets of the downtown area of the city.

“The combination of two premier race series in one location on the same weekend is a rare opportunity for race fans,” said ALMS CEO Scott Atherton.

“We have had outstanding doubleheader successes on street courses such as Long Beach, Houston and St. Petersburg, and I’m confident that the Baltimore Grand Prix will provide more of the same with a stellar backdrop for some of the best road racing on the planet.”

The announcement means that nine of next year’s ten ALMS events have been confirmed.
