BOATNZ JETSPRINTS

NZ Jetsprints

The sport of Jetsprinting was born in New Zealand some thirty years ago and has since evolved into one of the most exciting and spectacular forms of aquatic motorsport.

The small, dinghy-sized craft may not look much, but appearances can be deceptive: powered by a supercharged V8 engine running on methanol, some come packing a 1500bhp punch whilst light-weight construction adds nimbleness to the raw power. Boats run individually against the clock, the driver racing between a series of tight turns whilst his navigator directs the route with quick-fire hand signals. It’s an awesome spectacle as the boats power down the water only to stop, spin and return from whence they came all the while accompanied by enthusiastic antipodean commentary.
