Fans of all things rudderless will be pleased as punch to see the IHBA Drag Boat series come to Motors TV this year. In 1982, having pushed the envelope’s limits as far as possible on land, the Americans looked to water as the setting for the next chapter in strictly straight line motorsport. What they came up with survives today as a remarkably simple format; get from one end of the lake to other as fast as possible.

Incedibly, some boats pack a 7000hp punch and are capable of speeds in excess of 250mph! That can equate to a quarter mile run in just 4.5 seconds.
