WSS: Harris enjoys awesome qualifying.

BSB star Karl Harris ready to help team-mate Broc Parkes during stand-in ride for Yamaha World Supersport at Brands Hatch.
After suffering a merciless run of bad luck in the British Superbike Championship this season, Karl Harris found a change of championship to be as good as a rest when he qualified an 'awesome' fifth for Sunday's World Supersport round at Brand Hatch.

'Bomber' is deputising for the injured Fabien Foret at the official Yamaha World Supersport team and, whilst dreaming of a home podium, is ready to help team-mate Broc Parkes.

"It's awesome," Harris told Crash.net Radio, when asked how he felt to qualify less than 0.22secs from pole. "We actually went red-red in the first two splits, which is obviously pole position pace, but in the last sector it just started spitting with rain so I rolled off a bit. I'm happy with the second row though and looking forward to tomorrow.

"I'm just going to go into the race and enjoy it," he continued. "If I can get a podium then fantastic, but a top five would be good. I'm just going to ride my own race, watch what Broc's doing and try and help him out with the championship as much as I can."

Parkes will start the ninth round of the season third in the world championship standings, 33 points behind leader Andrew Pitt (Ten Kate Honda) but just one point behind Josh Brookes (Stiggy Honda).

Meanwhile, Harris - a four-time BSS champion - played down the likelihood of a full time WSS switch, saying that he still has plenty to prove in British Superbikes.

"It'd be nice to come back to the world championships, but then again I want to prove myself in Superbikes as well," he said. "Obviously the Rob Mac team is a fantastic team and I get on well with all the guys. To be fair the bike is fantastic, we just have no luck. I've still got something to prove in Superbike in Britain."
