FIM Endurance: Suzuki win in Doha to seal another title

The factory Suzuki team has taken victory in the final round of the FIM World Endurance Championship, sealing the title for the Japanese manufacturer.

Riders Vincent Philippe, Sylvain Guintoli and Kenny Foray's win in the 8 Hours of Doha was their second of the season, and ensured Suzuki their seventh title in ten years. They won by a resounding four laps from 2009's championship-winning Yamaha Austria machine of Igor Jerman, Steve Martin and Gwen Giabbani.

Privateer squad Kawasaki Bolliger Switzerland had travelled to Qatar with the championship lead, but by finishing fourth they lost enough ground for Suzuki to steal the crown. The Swiss squad's bike, shared by Horst Saiger, Patric Muff and Roman Stamm, came home behind the Honda RMT 21 Racing Germany of Viktor Kispataki, Didier Van Keymeulen and Arie Vos after an engaging scrap between the two machines.

The 2011 campaign kicks off with the 24 Hours of Le Mans in April of next year, when Suzuki will be looking to take their first win at the French classic since the 2008 running.
