The 2011 AMA Pro Road Racing Championship has confirmed it will run nine rounds this season, culminating at New Jersey Motorsports Park (September 2-4), after failing to secure a replacement for the Virginia International Raceway round. The Virginia event was cancelled by the venue weeks before it was scheduled to take place, forcing series organisers to search for an alternative tenth date.

While Mat Mladin delivered Rockstar Makita Yoshimura Suzuki their 40th consecutive win in unconventional fashion this past Saturday at Mid-Ohio, his 70th career AMA Superbike victory that came a day later was strictly by the books.
Monster Energy Kawasaki's Jamie Hacking bulled his way into the lead off the stripe but was overhauled by double champ Ben Spies entering Turn 6 for the first time. Spies' time at the front would only last a lap-and-a-half, however, as Mladin dove underneath him as they swung through the Carousel to conclude the second lap.

Ben Bostrom underlined his position as the pre-eminent force in the 2008 AMA Supersport Championship, utterly dominating the Laguna Seca contest after starting from pole.

The Californian broke free early and pulled clear to a convincing 7.888-second margin of victory in the 17-lap contest. Bostrom added the Supersport win to his earlier triumphs at Monterey in World Superbike, AMA Superbike, and Formula Xtreme.

Australian Mat Mladdin took his second career win on the tight and twisty Laguna Seca circuit.
At the start it was Ben Spies getting the holeshot and leading the bulk of the opening lap but Mladin ripped past just after the start/finish line straight and that was essentially the end of it.
