WEC: Knight signs for KTM

Two-time World Enduro and GNCC champion David Knight has signed for the factory Farioli KTM squad for an assault on the Enduro 3 class in 2010.

The British rider endured a frustrating 2009 season despite claiming wins in both WEC and GNCC, but is now focused an all-out attack on the E3 title.

“I’m extremely happy to be riding for the Farioli KTM team next year,” Knight said. “Knowing I will receive full factory KTM equipment and be part of what is a great team that I know well, means I’m really looking forward to the start of the season.

“With the Farioli KTM team and support from my personal sponsors I know I can re-establish myself at the top the Enduro 3 World Championship. 2009 was a difficult year for me, but I learned a lot and I’m even more determined than ever to win more WEC titles.

Knight began the 2009 season with BMW, but left the German manufacturer in June and linked up with Kawasaki. He went on to win the British Enduro Championship, the GNCC round at Snowshoe and the E2 class of the WEC season finale in France.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Kawasaki that has supported me during the second half of 2009,” he said.

“Claiming victory in the Enduro 2 class at the final round of the ’09 World Enduro Championship for Kawasaki is something that I am extremely proud of and I’d like to wish Kawasaki every success in 2010.

“During the coming weeks and months I’m going to be training hard both in the UK and in the States and I can’t wait for the start of the 2010 WEC series.”
