FIM World MX Championship

The Women’s World Motocross Championship comes to Motors TV full time in 2009 where they’ll benefit from the same extensive coverage afforded their male counterparts. That means, for the first time ever, British television will play host to live female motorsport. We’ll be there for all seven rounds of this season’s campaign that sees the girls travel across Europe in the hope of dislodging reigning champion Livia Lancelot from the top spot.

Instant Expert:

- Unlike on the men’s side, the women only have one championship to fight for, using the smaller, lighter 250cc 4-Stroke or 125cc 2-Stroke MX2 machinery.

- The seven championship rounds are held at the same venues on the same weekends as the male World Championships.

- The only disparity between the two genders is that female races last 10 minutes shorter, usually at 25 minutes in length.

Championship Calendar: MX1 / MX2

5 Apr: Sevlievo, Bulgaria.
10 May: Agueda, Portugal
17 May: Bellpuig, Catalunya
7 June: Ernee, France
21 June: Teutschenthal, Germany
5 July: Uddevalla, Sweden
30 Aug: Lierop, Netherlands

British Interest:

- After an injury ravaged 2008, Natalie Kane will be looking to bounce back this year and become the genuine title contender her fellow two-wheeled protagonists think she is. MX legend Stefan Everts certainly rates her highly, boldly proclaiming last season that she was a world champion in waiting. At just 17 years-old, the Ulster youngster is in a hurry to fulfil that promise.
