Roczen dominates MX2 in Britain to set up home race title shot

Red Bull Teka KTM protégée Ken Roczen won again on MX2’s visit to Great Britain to edge closer to this year’s MX2 title

The German’s eighth victory of the season was rarely in question throughout the weekend. He scored both moto wins by margins in excess of ten seconds to easily claim the overall victory.

Runner-up spot went to local favourite Tommy Searle, who stepped up his game at his home event. The Kawasaki rider was ten seconds shy of Roczen in the first run and 13 behind in the second but was not under any real threat from the pursuing riders.

Third overall went to Frenchman Gautier Paulin (Yamaha), who was P4 in both the first and second motos. He narrowly beat Jeffrey Herlings (KTM) to the final podium spot, the Dutchman having struggled to seventh in the opening run before recovering his form to take P3 in the second. Joel Roelants (KTM) was third in the first moto but technical woes forced him from the second run and scuppered any chance of a strong result.

Roczen now holds a 43 point advantage over team-mate Herlings with just two rounds left on the calendar. Next up is the Grand Prix of Europe (September 4), which this year takes place in Germany. Roczen will no doubt be keen to put the title to bed and begin his celebrations on home turf.
