World Motocross confirms new track deals for 2012 and '13


FIM World Motocross organisers have revealed a number of calendar details for both the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

German Grand Prix venue Teutschenthal has signed a lenghthy extension to its deal, the circuit now confirmed on the schedule through the 2026 campaign.

admitted Giuseppe Luongo, president of World MX organisers Youthstream, "bu
t we are very happy to have reached to such an agreement. This year we had record in spectators in Teutschenthal and also in [European GP venue] Gaildorf, proving that Motocross in Germany is growing." 

Luongo also confirmed that Fermo will continue to host the Italian Grand Prix in 2012, though the venue will no longer stage the final round of the championship as it has for the past two years.

Beyond 2012, the MX championship has announced plans to race in Thailand as of the 2013 season after signing a deal with the country's Federation of Motor Sports president, Thongchai Wongsawan. It will mark the series first forays in to the Asian nation. 

FIM/CMS Director Dr. Wolfgang Srb said the deal is "part of our long term strategy to run more GPs outside Europe," adding that he was particularly keen on "fast-growing regions, such as Asia."
