MX2: Larrieu out of season opener

French teenager Loic Larrieu will miss the opening round of the MX2 World Championship in Bulgaria next month.

The Yamaha Monster Energy Ricci rider suffered a heavy fall at the weekend while competing in Malpensa at the third round of the Italian MX Championship, suffering a fractured collarbone.

Larrieu’s crash came while attempting a downhill double at the steep circuit in Milan and means he will now be unable to take his place in the field for the Grand Prix of Bulgaria in Sevlievo on 4 April. He was only just returning to full fitness from a shoulder injury sustained during the winter.

The 19-year-old enjoyed an impressive rookie season in the MX2 World Championship in 2009, finishing on the podium at the GP of France on his way to 13th overall in the final standings.
