MX2: Simpson on road to recovery

Shaun Simpson is on the road to recovery after a nasty crash in the Hawkstone Park International Motocross event at the weekend.

The Red Bull KTM rider fell heavily in the first race, suffering heavy bruising to his face and hip, plus a deep cut to the ring finger of his left hand. He spent Sunday night in hospital but was released on Monday.

Simpson visited hand specialist Doctor Campbell in a private clinic in Leeds for an assessment to his injured finger and underwent a minor procedure on Tuesday morning which saw the wound thoroughly cleaned and closed.

While Simpson is expected to be unable to get back on a bike for the next 7-10 days, the 220year-old is expected to be fit for the opening round of the 2010 MX World Championship, the Grand Prix of Bulgaria, on 4 April.
