More MX2 glory for Roczen following Czech GP triumph

German rider Ken Roczen (Red Bull Teka KTM) continued his march towards the 2011 MX2 title with yet another double victory in Sunday’s Czech Grand Prix.

The 17-year-old was dominant in the first moto, beating team-mate Jeffrey Herlings by a full ten seconds. Roczen’s dominance was further illustrated by the fact that third place man Tommy Searle (Kawasaki) was over half a minute behind by the time the chequered flag dropped.

The second run would prove a more challenging affair, with Herlings keeping Roczen honest throughout. The Dutchman was arguably the faster of the pair but could not find a way past his team-mate and it was the German who triumphed after 40 minutes of nerves for the KTM team. Searle was third again and once more found himself well over half a minute off the victor at the flag.

With identical results in both motos the overall podium was also composed of Roczen, Herlings and Searle, with the trio occupying the same order in the championship. Roczen’s advantage stands at 27 points from Herlings with Searle now out of contention, sitting a full 105 shy of the German

Just three events remain on the 2011 calendar, with the next coming on August 21 as MX2 travels to Winchester for the Grand Prix of Great Britain.
