MX: FIM reveals 2010 calendar

The FIM has released its provisional calendar for the 2010 Motocross World Championships today.

The 16 round calendar, up one from this season, begins once again in Italy and concludes in Brazil. The South American leg remains the only event to be held outside of Europe however, although next year’s penultimate round, a new addition to the roster, could still add to that number as no country has yet been confirmed.

Other changes see the Italian and French races move venues with Fermo replacing Faenza and Saint Jean d'Angely taking Ernee’s place. Britain’s venue meanwhile is yet to be confirmed with any number of tracks vying for the slot.

The other substantial change centres on the Dutch round which has been pushed back by two months from April to mid-June. Sweden and Latvia have also swapped places.

As is the case this term, the Women’s World Championship will again run on the same weekends as its male counterpart. Despite the sport’s growing popularity however, the championship has been scaled down from seven to six events.
