Ryan Villopoto finally etched his name into MX history by clinching the AMA motocross 450cc title after taking an overall second place at Pala. Entering the weekend he was 14 points ahead of his closest competitor Ryan Dungey.
After a two week break Ryan Villopoto emphatically clinched Round 9 of the AMA Motocross campaign at the historic Unadilla National. Before a large crowd typical of the circuit the Monster Energy Kawasaki of Villopoto was able to dominate proceedings, taking first in both motos and thus extending his lead at the top of the championship to 7 points with only 3 rounds remaining.
Ryan Dungey continued his recent domination of the Spring Creek AMA Motocross event to claim a fourth consecutive victory on home turf and narrow the gap at the top of the standings. Tyla Rattray scooped the 250 class spoils.
